I candied ginger my way

I don't need to tell you about benefits of ginger. So why wouldn't we make something sweet and healthy?



Candied ginger is simple to make, and you really don't need a lots of money for these sweets. I wanted to make my candied ginger, so you can use only first 3 ingredients, or if you want to take my way, you can add the rest of ingredients.

You'll need:

250 g fresh ginger, peeled
400g sugar, plus additional sugar for coating the ginger slices, if desired
1/2 l water
1 tbs of rum
pinch of turmeric for lovely yellow colour ( crazy healthy, also)
1 tbs of cinnamon
1/2 lemon juice



First things first: Slice the ginger as thinly as possible.



Place a medium saucepan with all ingrediens over medium heat. Cook until about 30 minutes or until ginger is tender. Also, be careful, syrup will eventually get very sticky, or even evaporate, so if needed, add some more water...
If there is some syrup left - it's time for draining!



Instead of draining over the sink, place a large container underneath. This allows you to capture the ginger-infused syrup and refrigerate it for later use.

 Place baking paper on kitchen board, cover it with sugar, than place cooked drained ginger and sprinkle on top it with sugar. Toss it. Leave it to dry. In winter time I put it on my radiator, and in summer on sun.



And don’t throw that syrup away. I put mine in a jar and keep it in the refrigerator.  Don’t throw the sugar away either. It’s perfect for baking, ice cream, stirring into tea...

And don't forget, ginger is great help for stomach upset and effective for the treatment of cataracts, amenorrhea, heart disease, migraines, stroke, , angina, athlete's foot, colds, bursitis, chronic fatigue, tendinitis, flu, coughs, depression, dizziness, fever, erectile difficulties, infertility, kidney stones, Raynaud's disease, sciatica, and viral infections.


Kandirani đumbir


Ne trebam vam govoriti o tome kako je đumbir zdrav. Pa zašto ne bi smo spojili ugodno i korisno i napravili nešto slatko i zdravo?



Kandirano đumbir je jednostavna za napraviti i zaista ne treba ni puno novaca ni puno truda za ovu zdravu slasticu. Ipak, ja sam morala nadodati nešto svoga u recept, pa ukoliko želite onaj osnovni, držite se samo prve tri namirnice, ako želite mojim putem, idite do kraja recepta.


Potrebno vam je:

250 g svježeg đumbira, oguljenog
400g šećera, plus dodatni šećer za posip
1/2 l vode

1 žlica ruma
prstohvat kurkuma za lijepu žutu boju (također jedan zdravi začin)
1 žlica cimeta
sok od pola limuna

Prvo narežite đumbir, što tanje. Postavite posudu sa svim sastojcima na vatru i kuhajte dok đumbir ne omekani, odnosno dok voda ne ukuha u sirup.

Procijedite đumbir, ali sačuvajte sirup u staklenki!

Stavite na kuhinjsku plohu papir za pečenje, posut s kristal šećerom. Istresite đumbir, pri tom ga raspoređujući da ne bude na hrpama i slojevima. Pospite ga šećerom i odozgor i ako treba malo „umuljajte“. Ostavite da se osuši. U zimskom periodu ostavim papir za pečenje na radijatoru, a ljeti na sunce.

Sirup ostavite u staklenki i stavite u hladnjak te ga možete dodavati u čaj ili razrijediti s vodom kao sokić. Ne bacajte ni šećer koji je preostao od osušena kandirana đumbira, super dođe za kolače, posip na sladoled, u čaj ...

I ne zaboravite, đumbir je prva pomoć za bolesni želudac, učinkovit za liječenje amenoreja, bolesti srca, migrene, moždanog udara, angine, atletskog stopala, prehlade, kroničnog umora, upala tetive, gripe, kašalj, depresija , vrtoglavica, groznica, neplodnost, bubrežnih kamenaca, išijas, i virusne infekcije….
